Jerry Loves Austin St. John!

My first gay crush was Austin St. John -
AKA Jason the Red Power Ranger from
"Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers."

I was 8-years old.

And as far as I'm concerned, there was no bigger heart-throb during my childhood than Jason, the Red Power Ranger.

I remember liking him so much that I wanted to be related to him.

That way, he could sleep over...

My parents got me a ring once, and they asked what color stone I'd like. I picked a red one so I could pretend we were together. No judgements, kids.

Seeing him in those cut-off shirts stirred feelings inside me I didn't even know I had. Or could name.

Joe Loves Jordan Knight!

The year? 1989. My age? 12. And I had something in common with every pre-pubescent girl of the day.

I was obsessed with New Kids On The Block!

And for one reason:

Jordan
Nathaniel
Marcel
Knight

Yes I am a dork and know his full name. I also know his birthday, May 17. Don't judge me.

I thought he was "cool" - but little did I know what "cool" really meant.

I loved his big brown eyes, rat tail, dance moves, his VOICE, and of course that SMILE.

Celebrity crushes have come and gone over the years. But Jordan will always be my first.
I even professed my love for him via Twitter, to no avail. Sigh.

Did I mention he's gotten better with age?

Gustavo Loves Josh Hartnett!

I had my first gay crush when I was about 10.
It was Josh Hartnett in the movie "Pearl Harbor."

At that time I don't think I even knew what being gay was.

But I did know there was something about it that made me go crazy.

Many people didn't like this movie, claiming that it was too slow or too romantic to be considered a real war movie.

As if I cared!

I asked my dad to buy it for me and he agreed.

He must have thought, "That's a war movie, the kind of movie I want my boy watching." Ha! Little did he know (or myself, for that matter) that the real reason I loved this movie was the fact that I was developing an early fixation for men in uniform.

When I finally got my hands on the DVD, I found myself watching the sex scene between Josh and Kate Beckinsale over and over again. I have never in my life been so jealous of a person, as I was of her.

I soon realized I didn't like this movie for the same reason as other boys. And to this day, I think dog tags are the sexiest accessory a man can wear.

George Loves Ricky Nelson!

My first gay crush was when I was 11, and started realizing I was attracted to men. I actually had four, all at the same time. I used to buy popular starlet magazines and save pix of them when I saw they were featured. My 4 gay crushes were:

Ricky Nelson
I watched "Ozzie & Harriet" all the time,
just to see him.

Tab Hunter
I fell in love with that cute face the first time
I saw the movie of "Damn Yankees." I met him
and even appeared on stage with him in a production of "Here Lies Jeremy Troy" years later.

Tommy Sands
He was from Houston where I grew up,
and strangely enough, I always wondered WHY he married Nancy Sinatra. Even at age 11,
that seemed out of character to me.

Troy Donahue
I fell in love with this hunk of a star when
I read in a magazine, under a column called
"Secrets Of Your Idols," that he slept naked.

Alas, Ricky and Troy are dead, and Tab and Tommy have become multi-millionaire real estate moguls. Tab declared himself gay, which is wonderful. They claim Troy was not gay, but I'm still not convinced.

Rowan Loves Mark Wahlberg!

My first gay crush was Mark Wahlberg,
when I was about 8-years old.

MTV was playing "Good Vibrations" by Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch.

It may have been the 'bad boy' attitude, the killer body, or the song working on some sub-conscious level?

But, I got nothing but
'good vibrations' from him!

Further searching on the web revealed pictures of his days as an underwear model.

And that was the moment my feelings turned into a full blown crush.

Honestly, not much has changed since. I'm still very fond of Mr. Wahlberg, and many others. But he will always be my first gay crush.
