Eric Loves Omri Katz!

My first gay crush was actor Omri Katz!

I was age 12 when he starred in the very strange and short lived TV show "Eerie, Indiana" in 1991-1992.

I instantly fell in love with Omri's sullen looks and floppy hair that was always falling in his eyes, just like mine! His character was supposed to be around
14 or 15 which made me like him even more, as I was always attracted to boys a little older than me.

I swallowed my pride and bought a Tiger Beat magazine that had a feature on Omri. I knew it was for girls but I didn't care: I wanted to have his pictures!

On the way home I ran into a friend who wanted to see what I bought at the store. He took the bag away from me and laughed so hard I thought he would pee himself! So, I lied and said I bought it for my sister.

In the magazine I found an address to send away for an autographed picture of Omri. And I ended up writing him a gushy three-page letter, pouring out all my young boy emotions and how I really liked him a lot. And how I loved how he always looked half sad and how nobody really understood me or really liked me.

Six months later, the show was off the air and I was heart broken. But one day, almost a year after I had written to him, I received a big manilla envelope.

Inside was his photo, but not a usual head shot.
It was a picture of him on his bike, looking sad.

And he signed it:
"Eric, I really liked your letter and I understand.
I feel like that sometimes too. Hang in there!
Love, Omri."

I was beyond thrilled!
He actually read my letter and used the word love!

I proudly put the picture on the wall of my bedroom and it stayed there until I graduated from high school. My sister teased me about it for years, but I didn't care. That picture stayed on my wall!

My mom and dad never said a word about it.
But I'm sure they understood what it meant to me.

Thanks again for your wonderful web site.

Jay Loves Jonathan Brandis!

My first gay crush was actor Jonathan Brandis!

I was age 9, and loved him in "The Neverending Story 2" where I felt a stirring I couldn't explain.

But when I was age 12 and discovered him on "Seaquest,"
I knew exactly what I felt and what I wanted to do about it!

At the same time I fell in total lust with Jason Quartermaine played by Steve Burton and started cutting out his shirtless pics from my mom’s soap opera digest.

I "filled many tissues" over hot Steve. But it was nerdy, cool Jonathan I dreamed of holding me at night. He stole my heart, and I was heartbroken when he committed suicide.

Marlon Loves Nate Richert!

My first gay crush was actor Nate Richert.

He played Harvey Kinkle on “Sabrina The Teenage Witch.”
And
I was 12 years old when I fell in love with adorable Nate.

At the time, I had no idea what being gay meant.
All I knew was I was head over heels with this guy!

He embodied the perfect guy for me: sweet, caring, and his love for Sabrina made it all the better. And
I remember sitting on the floor of my living room watching reruns for hours.

My family had this idea that I had a crush on
Sabrina, but little did they know my heart belonged to Nate!

Alyssa Loves Martha Plimpton!

My first gay crush was actress Martha Plimpton!

I was about 6 years old when my mom showed me the 1985 movie "The Goonies" for the first time. I loved the movie so much! And I especially loved Stef, Martha's character.

When I saw her in the movie, that was basically the first time I thought another girl was really attractive.

I loved Martha's eyes, hair, just about everything! Not only was "The Goonies" my favorite movie (and it's still one of my faves), I loved watching it just to see Martha. She was so special to me because the movie brings me back to a lot of great memories.

But I'm pretty sure my mom didn't know that I had a crush on Martha back then.

When I watch the movie now though, I wonder
why I had a huge crush on her. Because she's not my type at all! But she definitely helped me discover what my sexuality is.

Carl Loves Billy Mumy!

My first gay crush was Billy Mumy as Will Robinson.

He was on "Lost In Space" from 1965 to 1967. Having the hots for him at that time was not, um, pedophillic, if that's the word.

It was simply my first attraction to another boy.

Back then, I would fantasize about being transported to wherever they were in the cosmos, so I could be the friend to get him away from that rascally Dr. Smith.

Just recently, I had a dream that my husbear bought me a ticket for a trip on the Jupiter II for my birthday!

I boarded the ship with the robot, then later Will and I were talking in the galley. As we talked, our facial features morphed so that we resembled each other. But our faces became elongated, so that's how I knew it was only a dream.

But Will said he had a long lost brother. And with our strong resemblance, we concluded that I was his long lost brother! As my heart fluttered (and not from too much caffeine this time), I awakened.

When I told my husbear about my dream (hoping he would somehow make it a reality for my next birthday), he was mad that I left with the robot to board the Jupiter II. What did he think I'd do, leave the robot with him? No way!

This was my first gay crush and this was MY dream! I think my husbear is the only person I've ever told this to until today.

I was a much younger man in my dreams. Aren't we all? Yeah well, time flies don't it?

James Loves Jay North!

My first gay crush was child actor Jay North.

Dennis the Menace (played by Jay North) was my boy crush in the early 1960's. Every Sunday night at 6:30pm his show would be on, and I never missed it.

I was 9 years old when I started watching it, and I remember this one episode were Dennis was sick in bed.

Dennis had to have his chest rubbed down with vapor rub. When he unbuttoned his pajama top and exposed his bare chest, I got all excited. Oh, how I wanted to be the one to rub his chest and tummy with the vapor rub.

My Grandma would always say to me, "You sure do like that cute little boy, don't you?" And I would answer her, "I sure do, Grandma. I wish Dennis could come and stay with me sometime!"

Yep! I sure had a huge crush on Dennis.

Steve Loves Mark Lester!

My first gay crush was UK actor Mark Lester.

The year was 1969. I was 9, and he was 10. And he was SO cute, with an adorable singing voice.

I wanted to be his friend the moment I saw him.

Sitting in a darkened movie theater watching the movie "Oliver" with my entire 5th grade class, I was smitten with him.

This was long before any awareness of sex, but I was definitely aware of my attraction to Mark.

I wanted to live with him and the Artful Dodger

(Jack Wild) and all of Fagin's boys. I wanted to share a bunk and swap shirts with him. And pick pockets with him, just like all the other scruffy kids in the gang.

Afterwards, my friends giggled about seeing "Nancy’s boobies" in her low-cut wench dress.
I was mystified. Nancy? Who was watching Nancy? Certainly not me!

Long before I knew I was gay, I had a fondness for blondes, and Mark Lester was my first.
